The new Nokia N76 runs the S60 v3 UI on top of the Symbian OS, and so includes all the smartphone features that users have come to expect from the company’s Nseries. The folder design holds music control keys underneath the 160×128 pixel resolution external display, and conceals a 16 million color capable 2.4” QVGA resolution internal screen that can also be used in a landscape orientation. A 2.0 megapixel camera is present to satisfy the shutterbugs among us, with 26MB of internal memory and microSD memory expansion supporting up to 2GB cards to store all your photos and music.

We must not forget that this is a powerful 3G smartphone with a good music player. The camera seems shy of megapixels at only 2 megapixels. The 3.5mm jack problem we can live with but can imagine the type of posts this will feed on our 3G Forum.

So even though it’s not absolutely perfect, it comes pretty darn close. It’s comfy to use and works just fine. Just remember to keep it covered at all times lest it lose its shine.

Smartphones aren’t usually sexy. Like the brainy kids at school, they rarely match their clever-clever attitude with eye-popping good looks. The N76, however, is a prince amongst smartphones

It’s not a small phone, by any means, but if you want something stylish and shiny and capable of excellent multimedia playback, the N76 is a winner.

While the N75 doesn’t earn our outright love, it still gets a positive nod.

Apart from its sexy look and its slim silhouette, Nokia N76 offers quite a lot of possibilities as a Symbian S60 smartphone.

All About Symbian

The N76 isn’t a bad smartphone, it’s just one that hasn’t had all its functions and aspects thought out properly. As a result, it’s (probably) one which won’t appeal to the vast majority of readers of this review.

Getting down to the N76’s flaws, I have to name its ergonomics in the first place – as a matter of fact it’s the most awkward folder of all I have got my hands on over the past few years, flipping it open is a real pain.

TrustedReviews

I came out of this review somewhat disappointed with the Nokia N76. It doesn’t breech any new ground, which as an N series handset I think it should. And there are plenty of alternatives offering a comparable range of features. If you want a pointer take a look at the already mentioned N73.

Its ergonomics aren’t the best and there are a number of places in the software that we hope to see improvements in, including the lack of consistency with settings organization and the instability of cover display UI. The background hissing noise heard when playing music is something that I think really needs to be solved first.

The Nokia N76 offers sexy looks and good multimedia performance, but it also suffers from some annoying design quirks and connectivity restrictions that have us holding on to our money.

It has some good calling and messaging features, and the Symbian OS has a wide range of available apps, but the phone disappoints in areas where N-series phones usually shine, especially with its camera.

The huge size is quite uncomfortable, the phone attracts fingerprints as, and even the camera spells disaster. To top it all, what I can’t figure out is that why Nokia made a Smartphone out of a style concept. I foresee this phone seeking solace in the palms of many ladies, and fewer men. I conclude the only edge that the N76 has over a RAZR is the power and not the beauty and it surely can’t make the cut over the RAZR.

There’s a lot be said about the N76’s freedom and versatility. However, if style is your game-and $499 is your price ceiling-you’d look cooler with an iPhone. If the sky’s the limit, consider the $749 Nokia N95, which sports GPS and an even sharper 5-MP camera.

All I can see is a big “IF” hanging over this particular Nseries model. Why can’t Nokia ever get their clamshells right?!

Nokia N76 can be considered an interesting purchasing option mainly by people who refer to their phone as to a stylish fashionable accessory and do not care about its functional abilities too much.

We don’t understand why anyone would want to be seen with a product designed as awkwardly as the N76. Naturally, appearance is a matter of taste.

The Nokia N76 has the looks to compete with the iPhone, but using it is a dissatisfying experience all around.
