Digital picture quality is largely dependent upon the number of pixels used to capture an image. Like a digital still camera, the CCD pixel count is essential for creating a vibrant life-like picture. Hitachi’s exclusive oversampling technology uses up to six times the pixels of conventional DVD camcorders to capture more detail and resolution than ever possible before. These CCD chips produce images of an even greater resolution than DVD requires, and the resulting video quality gives movies unmatched dimension and clarity.

Business WeekThe DZGX3300A could be more intuitive to use, but for the price you’ll get a small, light device with excellent picture quality |

CNET.comHitachi’s DZ-GX3300A won’t blow you away with its middle-of-the-road image quality, but a quick start-up time and the ability to edit video in the camera might appeal to less persnickety amateur videographers. Similarly, the camera’s 10X optical zoom, 3-megapixel CCD, and fairly standard feature set will neither wow nor disappoint. If you want a decent DVD camcorder at an attractive price, the Hitachi DZ-GX3300A might be for you. |

camcorderinfo.comThe Hitachi DZ-GX3300A is Hitachi’s top of the heap camcorder this year, and let me tell you, the heap is pretty low. The performance was disappointing and handling was simply abysmal. Hitachi adopted the design from last year’s Panasonic DVD camcorders, which were wisely ditched by Panasonic in order to standardize the look and optimize the handling of their consumer MiniDV and DVD line. This begs the question we have for the GX3300 – what’s the point of a powerful imaging system if your very design prohibits you from using it? |

Easy CamcordersThe Hitachi DZ-GX3300A represents the best of what Hitachi has to offer in 2006. Frankly, it’s not much. With a design based largely on an outdated Panasonic camcorder body, it’s clear that Hitachi is far from the cutting edge. In a crowded field of upper-end DVD camcorders – many of them very good – this Hitachi simply cannot compete. |

PC MagazineThere’s just nothing that makes the Hitachi DZGX3300A stand out in today’s highly competitive consumer camcorder market. |
