Along with a 6x optical image stabilized zoom, the compact PowerShot A710 IS is packed with features that make it a worthy successor to the popular PowerShot A700 it replaces. Improvements include a 7.1-megapixel sensor and new photo effects that add to the already extensive creative possibilities. The PowerShot A710 IS maintains many of the features that made its predecessor so successful, including an extensive range of shooting modes, full manual control, VGA quality movie recording, ISO 800 shooting, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen.

Digital Camera Resource PageIn a way, the A710 is sort of like a poor man’s PowerShot G7. Both cameras offer a 6X zoom lens with image stabilization, a 2.5” LCD, full manual controls, and conversion lens support. Priced just below $400, the PowerShot A710 IS has a lot to offer, and it’s a camera I can recommend without hesitation. |

Digital Camera ReviewThe A710 IS retains everything that made the A700 a best buy digicam and adds the one element that was missing; optical image stabilization – making an already excellent digicam substantially better. The A710 IS is my hands-down favorite digital camera of 2006, and I predict consumers will buy this digicam in amazing numbers. |

PhotographyBLOGIn summary, the Canon Powershot A710 IS is at first glance an unspectacular camera, which steadily grows on you as you spend more time using it. Despite “only” having 7 megapixels and no flip-out screen, the A710 IS thoroughly deserves its place at the top of Canon’s A-series range, and is also a great digital camera in its own right. |

NeoCamera.comThe A710 provides excellent value as a camera which can be used for different levels of photography. Using readily available AA batteries and SD memory contributes to the overall value of this camera. This camera’s predecessor, the excellent Canon Powershot A700, offers similar features and performance minus stabilization. |

Steve's DigicamsBottom line – The Canon PowerShot A710 IS is a terrific consumer digicam. Its 6x optical zoom is far more versatile than the typical 3x zoom, and the IS feature makes the 210mm telephoto end usable even in marginal lighting conditions. |

Imaging ResourceOutright prolonged applause for the introduction of image stabilization in the A-Series. Canon’s retention of an optical viewfinder on the PowerShot A710, no matter how spare, is also to be applauded. Startup and shutdown are quick and the menu option you need is quickly at hand, too. |

Cameras.co.ukIn terms of picture quality the Canon Powershot A710 IS is top quality. It also has a great range of features for the price, including 6x optical zoom. If I was looking for a camera for around 200 pounds and my main criteria was picture quality then this is the camera I would buy. |

Digital Photography ReviewI wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to the more experienced photographer on a budget wanting a compact camera packed with goodies, perhaps less wholeheartedly so for the absolute beginner wanting true ‘point and shoot’ infallibility. |

Good Gear GuideThe Powershot A710 IS captures great pictures, operates extremely quickly and sports an attractive design that will appeal to many people. It does have some minor noise issues, but the rich feature set and quick burst mode make it an ideal choice for the budding photographer. |

CNETCanon’s A series continues to deliver tons of bang for the buck, this time including optical image stabilization, 6X optical zoom, and solid image quality in a midsize compact camera with a stylish design update. |

ePhotozineThe A710 IS offers something of a middle ground in terms of functionality. The 6x optical zoom is nice, but it’s not a really telling feature, just good to have, and the image stabilisation works well with it. The resolution is good, but other in this kind of price range are now offering slightly more at 8Mp. Then again, for a compact, 7Mp is plenty and more is just overkill. |

TrustedReviewsThe Canon PowerShot A710 IS is expensive for a compact camera, although it does offer a wide range of features for the money. Overall performance is outstanding, however build quality and more importantly image quality are not up to the standards we’ve come to expect from Canon, and the possible flash fault is damning. |
